Moon Chief (Moonlight Festival) Guide
A 7-day All-of-Chief seasonal event overlapping King of Icefield 100%. Day-by-day scoring calendar, minimum-effort completion route, best training day by FC and tier, and the 8M power T11 trick.
A 7-day All-of-Chief style seasonal event. This run overlaps King of Icefield 100%, which is rare and very efficient. Completion route: half your keys → polars → rest of keys → troops → essence & widgets → gathering → chief gear. Training day: FC8 and below = Day 4 (Thu), FC10 = Day 1 & Day 6 (Mon/Sat). Save your gems for Halloween. Clearing Moon Chief's 5 daily stages yields 210 lanterns for Mysteries of Numbers (43% of F2P lanterns) — there, never reset, play full boards; the efficient spend is $5 → $13 → $56 (all 30 Mithril).
Event overview
The structure is plain All of Chief — the scoring tasks rotate by day. Being a seasonal event, it only carries the skeleton of scoring categories.
Does NOT score: pets · experts · mithril · chief charms · sigils · books of knowledge
Does score: power (construction/research/troops) · speed-ups (expert speed-ups included) · hero shards · keys · polars/beasts · essence stones & widgets · gathering · gems · chief gear
The daily stage rewards include Mysteries of Numbers lanterns — 5/5/5/5/10, 30 a day, 210 over 7 days. Even if you are not pushing, clear all 5 stages every day.
The top reward is the name card — very valuable on rally leads and extremely scarce (roughly 25 per state on competitive servers).
⚠️ Weekday labels in the Discord summary are stale
Ton's Discord training TL;DR says "Day 4 (Saturday)" and "Day 1 (Wednesday)" — those are copy-paste leftovers from a previous run. For this run the real mapping is Day 1 = Mon (9/21) … Day 7 = Sun (9/27), which matches the completion route in the same post (Day 1 Mon ~ Day 7 Sun).

2-day events: Monday = Officer Project II (Hero Shard · Chief Gear · Essence Stone & Widget · Mithril) · Tue–Wed = Defeat Nearby Beasts (Beasts · Polar Terrors)
Where both events score at once
| Day | Overlapping task |
|---|---|
| D1 Mon | Hero Shards (Moon Chief + Officer Project II) |
| D2 Tue | Polar Terrors / Beasts (Moon Chief + Defeat Nearby Beasts) — polars are the better points per stamina |
| D3 Wed | Hero Shards (Moon Chief + KOI) |
| D4 Thu | Troop training (Promote > Train) (Moon Chief + KOI) |
| D5 Fri | Essence Stones & Widgets (Moon Chief + KOI) — mithril does NOT score on Moon Chief |
| D6 Sat | The video says "no overlap", but per the sheet troop training scores on both — Moon Chief (power) + KOI (promote > train) |
| D7 Sun | Chief Gear (Moon Chief + KOI) |
🚫 Construction is the worst points source this week
Power on D1/D6, speed-ups on D3/D7 — either way it is the worst value per resource spent. Avoid it if you can. Training on D1/D6 below FC9 is equally bad.
2. Minimum-effort completion route unlock all daily rewards
Hero shards also score on Officer Project II.
Burn stamina cans. Polars beat beasts for points.
D1 + D3 together is usually enough.
Optimal day at FC8 and below. Overlaps KOI promote > train.
No mithril. Spare your gems.
Troops finishing naturally count here too.
Top up the remainder with speed-ups.
Top-up priority for F2P / low spenders: promote troops → essence stones → a small amount of speed-ups last.
💎 Don't spend gems — bank them for Halloween
Moon Chief only scores gems on Day 5. A month from now Halloween brings the pumpkin smashing event, which takes speed-ups and gems as input and gives gems back. Banking is far better value than burning them here.
3. Pushing for name cards
Late-gen states should consider moving the training state buff to D1 or D6.
Burn all stamina.
NO mithril.
Day 7. Don't force it if you lack materials.
Ton's own state is deep in Gen 12, so effectively everyone is FC10. He proposed moving the training state buff off Thursday onto Day 1 or Day 6. Judge your own state the same way — a slightly lower point value plus state buff and a title often wins on total troops produced.
4. Choosing your training day numbers by FC and tier
Day 1 & Day 6 = power scoring
- 1 power gained = 1 point
- So the power of one troop is the score
- Higher FC makes these days better
Day 4 = per-troop scoring
- Fixed points per troop trained
- Independent of FC — it never grows
- Which is why low FC strongly prefers Day 4
Day 4 fixed points (FC-independent)
| Tier | T7 | T8 | T9 | T10 | T11 | T12 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points / troop | 50 | 68 | 90 | 118 | 140 | 170 |
Day 1 & Day 6 — power per troop
| FC | T7 | T8 | T9 | T10 | T11 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FC0 | 28 | 38 | 50 | 66 | — |
| FC1 | 30 | 41 | 54 | 71 | — |
| FC2 | 32 | 44 | 58 | 76 | — |
| FC3 | 34 | 47 | 62 | 83 | — |
| FC4 | 37 | 51 | 67 | 88 | — |
| FC5 | 40 | 54 | 72 | 94 | 114 |
| FC6 | 43 | 57 | 77 | 99 | 120 |
| FC7 | 46 | 60 | 82 | 104 | 126 |
| FC8 | 49 | 63 | 87 | 110 | 135 |
| FC9 | 51 | 66 | 91 | 115 | 141 |
| FC10 | 54 | 69 | 95 | 121 | 148 |
T12 = 178 (FC10), against 170 on Day 4 → +4.7%.
Verdict — best training day by main tier
| Main tier | FC8 and below | FC9 | FC10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| T10 | Day 4 118 vs 110 | Day 4 118 vs 115 | Day 1 & 6 121 vs 118 (+2.5%) |
| T11 | Day 4 140 vs 135 | a wash 141 vs 140 (+0.7%) | Day 1 & 6 148 vs 140 (+5.7%) |
| T12 | — | — | Day 1 & 6 178 vs 170 (+4.7%) |
✅ The rule
- FC0–FC8 → always Day 4 (Thu)
- FC9 → basically a wash. T11/T9 slightly favour D1/D6, T10/T8 favour D4. Differences around 1%
- FC10 → Day 1 & Day 6. Nearly 5% on T11/T12
⚠️ Don't be black and white
- FC8 but your state pops the training buff on Monday? The 3.6% point gap is smaller than the extra troops the buff produces
- The sheet's green cells are "best on points alone"
- The real answer = points + state buff + title + overlaps
5. The 8M power T11 research trick
All-of-Chief style events also score power gained. One T11 research ≈ 8 million power — the single biggest block of points available this week.
| Situation | What to do | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Finishes after Sat 9/26 | Pour speed-ups on Wednesday (D3) to bring the remainder to around 72 hours | Wednesday speed-up points + Saturday 8M power points |
| Finishes Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri (no scoring) | Finish it outright on Monday (D1) with speed-ups | Monday power points + KOI Monday speed-up points |
| No planning at all | Completes on a non-scoring day | 8M power thrown away |
⏱ Leave margin
Don't aim for exactly 72 hours — leave 80–86 hours, or even 120 before the final speed-up push. People mess this up every run and dump 8M power on a day that scores nothing. If you plan to finish near reset, set an alarm.
6. Traps and exceptions
You can skip Day 7 chief gear
Early/mid-gen accounts (Gen5–8, especially farms) need 3–4 chief gear upgrades to complete Day 7, and often simply don't have the materials. Forcing it with speed-ups is terrible value per speed-up spent.
If you can't manage 2–3 upgrades and don't want to finish with speed-ups, just skip the day. Missing one day is not the end of the world.
🚫 Don't feed mithril
- Day 5 essence/widgets score on both events
- But mithril only scores on KOI
- While pushing Moon Chief it only pays once
✅ KOI completes comfortably
- Everything Moon Chief ignores (pets, experts, mithril, charms) is in KOI
- If polars covered Moon Chief on D2, fill KOI with experts, pets and charms
- Split resources that don't overlap — that's the whole trick
7. Playing while holding your state back when you don't want to be leading
✅ Safe to push
- Keys (hero shards)
- Stamina → polar terrors / beasts
- Troop training — troop count isn't weighted like real power
- Gems · gathering
- Essence stones only in the low range (1–10) on 2nd/3rd gear sets
🚫 Avoid
- Essence stone 15–20 big upgrades
- Unnecessary research / construction power spikes
Appendix. Mysteries of Numbers live-confirmed · revised 09-21
🆕 Revised 09-21 — no longer provisional
Updated with Ton's dedicated video (youtu.be/aHO9OvRanmE), the refreshed master sheet and the Torxim event page. It is confirmed to be the April Easter Egg Matrix with a new skin. Torxim numbers depend on your State Phase setting (FC10-T12 below).
Rules
1. Each round generates a 25-number matrix drawn from 1–50.
2. One Lantern of Blessings draws one number (no repeats). On a fresh board it's roughly a coin flip, and the odds drop as the board fills.
3. Each row or column = a Path Reward. 5 rows + 5 columns = 10 paths per board.
4. 3 paths = the Grand Prize. The reset button stays locked until you have 3 paths.
5. Clearing a board can promote the matrix — Common → Centennial 20%, Centennial → Millennial 18%. Higher matrices draw from better loot pools.
×1, ×5 or auto — it doesn't matter. Auto never wastes lanterns: it draws one at a time and stops when the board is done, so having a few lanterns left after auto is normal.
All currencies are seasonal. Lanterns → 10K Secured Resource Chest, Plenilune Badges → 1K Meat. Nothing carries over. The Moonlit Market is open until 9/28.
Never reset — always play full boards. A full board costs ~45.76 lanterns (Torxim) / ~49 in Ton's experience. After 3 paths the remaining lines take only a few more draws, and only a cleared board can promote. Kingshot-version sims and Torxim's sims reach the same conclusion.
| Strategy (April sim) | Lanterns / board | Common | Centennial | Millennial | Badges / board | Badges / lantern |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh after 3 paths | 38.8 | 91.92% | 7.70% | 0.39% | 243.88 | 6.29 |
| Full board | 49.04 | 81.70% | 16.34% | 1.96% | 570.48 | 11.63 |
Full boards are ~1.85× better per lantern. Badge values use Gen 7 / FC8 rewards.
What F2P can expect
🎯 On average
- 485 lanterns (~560 with milestones)
- → ~10.6–11 boards → on average 2 Centennial · 0 Millennial
- Milestone 100 paths is reachable F2P · ~7,275 badges
🍀 Luck check
- 3+ Centennial or any Millennial = above average
- Daily missions are tuned for spenders — do what's comfortable, or stop for the day once they're done
Where lanterns come from
| Source | Lanterns | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Moon Chief daily stages | 210 | 5/5/5/5/10 × 7 days. You must clear all 5 stages daily |
| Moonlight Brilliance daily missions | 126 | 18/day. Doubled to 252 with the $5 Lunar Blessing |
| Symphony of Radiance | 84 / 162 | F2P / full clear. Row 12 · column 18 · bonus 48. The $5 pass unlocks the rest (+78) |
| Pot of Fortune | 35 | Daily 2×7 + seasonal 21. Seasonal missions also give decent gems, stones and XP parts |
| Moonlight Brilliance free track | 30 | |
| F2P total | 485 | Torxim counts Symphony 162 / Pot 14 → 542 |
| Path milestones | up to 580 | 5 · 25 · 50 · 100 · 150 · 250 |
🌕 Moon Chief = 43% of F2P lanterns
210 / 485. Clearing Moon Chief's 5 daily stages is half of F2P Mysteries of Numbers. Do the daily stages even if you're not pushing.
Daily missions (radiant points / lanterns): login 200/6 · 10 beasts 100/6 · 2 epic keys 100/0 · 5 intel 100/0 · 30k troop power 100/0 · 1,000m speed-ups 200/6 — "no lanterns from speed-ups" only means there's no direct conversion; this mission still pays 6.
Spending ① — the two passes (Moonlight Brilliance, one-time)
| Pass | Lanterns | Also | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lunar Blessing $5 | 186 | Track 60 + doubled missions 126 · 1,500 gems · 8 Mythic General Shards · 5 each Mythic Exploration / Expedition Skill Manual · 4 Gold Keys · 10 stamina · PFP skin | Top pick Also unlocks +78 from Symphony. If you spend $5, spend it here |
| Everbright Moon $20 | 300 | 6,000 gems · 280 Fire Crystals · 72 Essence Stones · 40 Enhancement XP parts | High value |
Totals (sheet): $5 → 749 (+264 = 52.8/$) · $25 → 1,049 (+564 = 22.56/$). Buy on Day 1 to be sure you get 7 days of doubled missions.
Spending ② — daily packs (Lunar Radiance, reset daily)
| Price | Lanterns | Cost / lantern | Daily limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1 | 15 | $0.067 | 1 |
| $2 | 30 | $0.067 | 1 |
| $5 | 50 | $0.10 | 1 |
| $10 | 90 | $0.11 | 1 |
| $20 | 160 | $0.125 | 1 |
| $50 | 360 | $0.139 | 1 |
| $100 | 650 | $0.154 | 3 |
The big drop in value comes between the $1/$2 and the $5 packs. Always buy the small ones first. Each pack also includes price×500 gems. (Ton's sheet lists the second pack at $2.5; this run it's $2.)
Path milestones — cheapest route (Torxim)

| 1,000 | 250 lanterns | $371 | … + $5×7 $10×7 $20×6 $50×2 | 4,904 | 76,747 |
Milestone rewards in total: 580 lanterns · 19,000 badges.
Value of spending (Ton's Torxim numbers, Gen 12 / FC10 setting)
| Spend | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| $13 | ~700% | Among the best anywhere in the game |
| $56 | ~330% → ~500% | Once badges go into all 30 Mithril (24,000 badges). Under $2 per Mithril |
| $131 | ~350% | per the transcript |
| $286 / $371 | ~160% | With badges unallocated — allocate in the shop to see the real value |
| $371 max | ~230% | ≈ $851 of value with Mithril + Charm Secrets + Fire Crystals + Charm Designs |
📊 Compared to other events
- Journey of Light: just under 300%
- Treasure Hunter and similar, maxed: ~200%
- → Up to $56 it's Journey-of-Light tier; even maxed it edges out Treasure Hunter, with less randomness
⚠️ Past your milestone you lose twice
- ① Worse lanterns per dollar the further you go
- ② Nothing more to earn from playing
- Without a goal like the city skin, stop at the milestone your budget fits and spend the leftover badges
Using Torxim: set language and State Phase top-right → pick a milestone → allocate your Moonlit Market purchases; the % is incomplete until you do.
Ton's expected haul — $56: ~1,000 Fire Crystals · ~400 Lucky Hero Gear Chests · ~300 Polishing Solution · ~167 XP parts · ~100 Essence Stones + 30 Mithril / $371: ~3,600 Fire Crystals (600 from the shop) · ~1,000 Lucky Chests, etc.

✅ Buy
- Mithril → Charm Secrets are far ahead (30 Mithril = 24,000 · 100 Secrets = 40,000 badges)
- Then charm materials, speed-ups, Fire Crystals
- The daily Lucky Chest (10/day) is cheap enough to grab every day
- Ton's plan: Mithril → Secrets → the city skin if luck and budget allow
🚫 Low value
- Hero gear · chief gear · hero shards — skip unless you're piling up charms
- That said, what you're short on beats the value table
🏯 What the city skin costs
45,000 badges ≈ the $196 route (46,536 badges) on Torxim if the skin is all you buy.
Ton: mostly cheap high-value packs puts it at $180–300 on average, around $150 if you're very lucky. Mixing in $100 packs pushes it to $400–500+. Many consider it one of the best-looking skins in a while.
At a glance — by budget
| Budget | What to do |
|---|---|
| $0 | Moon Chief 5 stages daily + daily missions + Pot of Fortune → ~11 boards · 100 paths. Badges: Mithril → Secrets |
| $5 | Lunar Blessing on Day 1. Doubled missions + Symphony +78 + PFP skin |
| $13 | + $1 pack for 6 days + $2 pack once → 200 paths · ~700% |
| $56 | Both passes + $1/$2 daily + $5 twice → 350 paths · all 30 Mithril |
| $131+ | Diminishing returns. Only if the city skin is the goal |
| $371 | Full max (1,000 paths). ~230% once allocated |
